Hurstone in Bloom

Life’s a dream at Hurstone; if you’ve stayed here before you’ll know how this lovely old house works its charm the minute you step inside the door. This summer you can enjoy time at this large country house for weekends away from just £46 per person per night! That’s an offer that’s too good to miss! With 7 bedrooms to sleep 14, a games room and a hot tub, that’s remarkably good value and you’d be hard pushed to find a half decent hotel for less – plus, here it’s all yours, you don’t have to share it with people you don’t know.

A long weekend in the country does you the world of good, especially when you spend it with your favourite people. That might be a multi-generational stay, a break with friends , or a relaxing ladies’ weekend away. Maybe there’s a special birthday to be celebrated, a momentous anniversary, or something else – there are so many reasons to celebrate in life and Hurstone is a wonderful place for it, a far cry from the push and shove of the city and the doom and gloom of the news. This is somewhere to disconnect, put your feet up and slow down.

Valley view

Wake up to morning mists in the valley, birdsong and squirrels scampering on the lawn, the sound of the River Tone tripping along in the valley; kick start the day with a leisurely breakfast or morning coffee on the terrace at the front of the house, the endless fields and woods spread out before you, in the distance, the hills of Exmoor. Then the time is yours to spend however you want to; maybe a game of pool or a soak in the hot tub, a game of croquet on the lawn. You might want to venture out to explore this beautiful part of the world - an amble through the nature reserve on the doorstep, a stroll down the lane to The Rock Inn for a hearty lunch, a browse around Wiveliscombe, or a trip out to Sheppy’s Cider to see how Somerset’s famous brew is made and a wander through the apple orchards.

Waterrow village

You could visit one of the beautiful historic houses nearby, like Knightshayes , Dunster or Hestercombe House & Gardens; soak up the tranquillity of Cleeve Abbey, see the Chapter House, the great dormitory and the exquisitely carved angels in the refectory. Take the family to Tropiquaria Zoo or Diggerland Devon, head down to Tiverton for a ride on a horse drawn barge along the Grand Western Canal, a trip on the West Somerset Railway perhaps . There’s plenty to see and do, and when you get back to Hurstone the whole evening is yours; if it’s one of those gorgeously balmy ones, have a barbecue, watch the sun go down from the terrace. If you are here for a family celebration why not hire one of our recommended private chefs to come and create a feast for you. These are dream days, times to savour, times to remember.

Relaxed dining

So, let’s look at those prices again, because this is such a fantastic offer and you have to grab these things when they’re going. Come in early July before the schools break up, beat the traffic and the crowds; a 4 night weekend from Thursday 4th works out at £48 per person for 14 of you. Mid August, the same length of stay is £58 each – in the height of summer! And late August is just £46 per person! Those prices are based on 14 guests, but don’t forget, there’s room for 2 more in an adjacent self-contained annexe, and you know what they say – the more the merrier. Spread the word, tell everyone you meet about these amazing offers!
