Check out our special offers on winter short breaks for groups in the South West! This winter, treat yourselves to a weekend stay deep in the Somerset countryside, the perfect antidote to the grey skies. Hurstone is for special times with special people, perfect for happy reunions and peaceful family celebrations.
Winter Breaks From Just £40pp Per Night
The temperature’s dropped and as we write, the country sits beneath a blanket of cloud; it can be oppressive, this time of year, but winter short breaks for groups in the South West are a wonderful way to make it more cheerful – hunkering down with your favourite people in a gorgeous rambling old house, tucked away in the tranquil Somerset countryside close to Exmoor National Park.
Hurstone is so perfect for winter escapes; it’s so far, far away from the push and shove of life in the city. It’s like a different world here, one where you can slip off your shoes, put your feet up and truly unwind. Close the door, pad softly about the house, forget about all the bad stuff that’s going on in the big bad world. This is your retreat, away from it all; look out of the window and all you’ll see are fields and hills that roll on for miles.
Bring all your favourite people, the ones you love most of all, because there’s plenty of room here. 7 bedrooms sleep 14, and at a small extra cost, there’s a cosy adjacent annexe for 2 – lovely for a couple who like to turn in earlier than most of us! There’s a games room with a half size snooker table, and in the courtyard at the back, a hot tub. Ever slipped into a hot tub on a winter’s day or a star-studded winter’s evening? It feels good, and it’s so relaxing because you soon adjust; hot tubs, you see, are not just for summer.
Hurstone is a wonderful place to explore, to wander off for a pokey about when you arrive. What’s this? What’s in here? It’s like your favourite Great Aunt has lent you her country house for a few days, the ambience is so gentle. If Hurstone had arms, they’d be wrapped softly around you as you step inside, welcoming you, ushering you in.
And just because it’s winter it doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do. Do all the lovely things that good friends and family do together – play snooker, get the board games out, read books. You can even have a good game of Hide-and-Seek or Sardines here!
Cook something nice and gather round the table in the dining room to tuck in and share chit-chat; if you have something special to celebrate, like a big birthday or anniversary, book private chefs to come and create a feast for you – our favourites are listed on our Extras page.
Wrap up warm – coats, scarves, hats, gloves, and go for a stroll around Hurstone Nature Reserve. Stop and stare, watch leaves tumbling down from the trees, notice the little things that too often pass us by, like birds twittering, squirrels scampering from branch to branch, the lush green of moss .
Wander down the road to The Rock Inn for lunch, watch the River Tone slip by beneath the bridge, amble slowly past the centuries old cottages. Then go back, return to Hurstone to light the fire and snuggle round with a tray of hot buttery toast, mugs of steaming hot chocolate. Rosy cheeks, bright eyes, and your perfect smiles.
Such happy times come at a remarkably good price too, because we’ve got special offers to share with you. Come in early December for a pre-festive break when a 4 night stay works out at just under £40 per person per night. And it’s YOURS! All exclusively, yours! We’ll be running similar special offers in the new year, from January until March, so even if you don’t all manage to get together at Christmas, there’s still opportunity.
But don’t dither, don’t dally, or you might miss out, and who knows when you’ll all be together again? Life is to be enjoyed, with friends and family, good food and special times; those are the kind of memories that last forever. Hurstone is where they’re waiting to be made.
